Safer Internet Day, February 11, 2025

On February 11, 2025, Georgia will host Safer Internet Day, bringing together experts in cybersecurity, media literacy and digital awareness. Enhance media literacy for individuals of all ages.

Safer internet day provides a collaborative platform for government agencies, educational institutions, NGOs, and cybersecurity professionals to address digital safety challenges and solutions.

Purpose of the Event

The event aims to raise public awareness about the risks and opportunities of the digital environment, discuss cybersecurity strategies, and promote media literacy among both children and adults.

Event Program

11:30 – 11:50, Opening
Opening speeches will be delivered by:

  • Ketevan Rekhviashvili, Internet Society Georgia (ISOC — Georgia).
  • Eka Qubusidze, Head of the Communications, Information, and modern technologies department, Ministry of economy and sustainable development of Georgia.

11:50 – 12:50, First session

  • Salome Imnaishvili, Senior manager of digital governance and cybersecurity strategic planning, Digital governance agency
  • Tamar Kurdadze, Cybersecurity specialist, Ministry of digital governance.
  • Maka Dakhundaridze, Head of media literacy department, Communications Commission.

Topic: Development of Media Literacy in Georgia

13:00 – 14:00, Second session

  • Maia Kurtsikidze, Head of Communication Program, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
    Topic: Educating children on internet safety and media literacy in formal education.
  • Nika Gagnidze. Topic: Cyber awareness and digital education.
  • Leli Qiphiani. Topic: Virtual relationships and their impact on real social skills

After all sessions, there will be a Q&A session.
